Smith Center Friday evening. Set scores were 25-19, 25-14, 25-21.
With the win, GW (4-0) opens the season with four consecutive victories for the first time since 2003, when they started 10-0.
Newman led all players with a match-high 14.5 points (14k, 6e, 24a). Two other Colonials finished with double-digit kills as junior Lauren Whyte (13 points) and sophomore Taylor Knox (11.5 points) contributed 12 and 10, respectively.

GW sprinted out to a 9-4 lead to open the first set before the Seahawks managed to pull even at 10-10. Following a timeout the Colonials settled down to distance themselves and take the opening set 25-19, punctuated with a service ace by freshman Savannah Clark.
