WASHINGTON - The George Washington volleyball team will attempt to start a season with four consecutive victories for the first time since 2003 when it hosts the GW Invitational this weekend at the Charles E. Smith Center. The tournament features six games over two days with GW, UNC Wilmington, North Carolina Central and Central Connecticut.
The Colonials hold an all-time record of 71-25 in GW Invitational matches. GW has never lost a match to any of this weekend's opponents, leading the all-time series against both CCSU (2-0) and NC Central (2-0) and a 3-0 mark against UNCW.
GW will celebrate College Colors Day on Friday and fans are encouraged to wear Buff and Blue throughout the day and to that evening's contest. There will be giveaways and free food from local vendors like Pinkberry and Kababji Grill before the match and the first 200 fans will receive free GW wristbands.
The GW Invitational, as well as all of GW's home matches this season, can be viewed live online via video streaming at GWsports.com. Those interested in subscribing can visit GW All-Access to sign up for the service. Options include monthly service or an annual package that currently includes Colonials men's and women's basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, women's lacrosse and men's and women's soccer.
