WASHINGTON- The George Washington volleyball team will attempt to win the sixth annual DC Challenge when it hosts a rescheduled match against Georgetown on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Charles E. Smith Center at 7:00 pm. The match was originally scheduled for August 27, but was postponed due to adverse weather conditions associated with Hurricane Irene.
GW opened the DC Challenge by snapping American's 19-match home winning streak, the seventh-longest in the nation, in front of 2,122 fans at Bender Arena. The crowd was the largest to watch a collegiate volleyball match in Washington, D.C., history.
The momentum carried over to day two of the DC Challenge as the Colonials knocked off George Mason, 3-1.
The Colonials can clinch their third DC Challenge championship with a victory over the Hoyas. GW won the event in 2006 and 2008.
The rescheduled match, as well as all of GW's home matches this season, can be viewed live online via video streaming at GWsports.com.
