WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington women's lacrosse team celebrates Senior Day this Friday at 4:00 pm in its must-win regular-season finale against Atlantic 10 rival Richmond at Mount Vernon Field.
GW (6-10, 3-3 A-10) needs a victory over Richmond (8-8, 5-1 A-10) on Friday and a Duquesne (9-6, 3-3) loss at St. Bonaventure (5-7, 2-4) on Thursday to secure the fourth and final berth to the 2011 A-10 Championship, to be held at Temple's Geasey Field April 29 and May 1.
Fans are encouraged to support the Colonials at Mount Vernon Field, but those who cannot attend can view the game via live video streaming on GW All-Access. GW All-Access is the subscription-based multimedia video platform for GWsports.com. Subscriptions are $9.95 per month and $79.95 annually. The Colonials will recognize seniors Mia Breheny, Laura Dominiak, Liz Hoffman and Audrey Joy prior to their final home game at Mount Vernon Field. Breheny (33 goals) is one of three 30-goal scorers for GW along with juniors Sarah Phillips (30) and Megan Seidman (32). Hoffman is second in the league with 131 total saves, while Dominiak ranks second on the team with 33 ground balls and Joy is second on the squad with 16 caused turnovers.
GW is 3-7 all-time against Richmond, with two of the three victories coming at Mount Vernon (2004, 2008).
If both GW and Duquesne post victories to finish 4-3, the Dukes hold the head-to-head tiebreak over the Colonials by virtue of their 7-6 victory at Mount Vernon Field April 3. If GW, Duquesne and St. Bonaventure finish in a three-way tie at 3-4, the Dukes would claim the tiebreak by virtue of a better season goal differential.
