Colonials Swimmers Drop Time in Day 1 of Patriot Invitational

FAIRFAX, VA - The George Washington men's and women's swimming teams are participating in the Patriot Invitational, hosted at George Mason's Jim McKay Natatorium, Nov. 19-21. The Colonials will race against teams from American, Georgetown, George Mason, Howard, Seton Hall, Shippensburg, UMBC, and UNC Wilmington.
On Friday morning, Paola Leor took first place in the women's 50-yard freestyle touching the wall at 23.47, breaking her record of 23.58 that she set at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championships on February 18.
Caroline Myers took second in the prelims of 500-yard freestyle, 5:01.55, but came back in the championship final Friday evening to win the event in 4:55.40. In the 200-yard Individual Medley, Myers finished sixth with a time of 2:09.30.
In the men's events, many GW swimmers put in faster times than what they posted against Drexel two weekends ago at Charles E. Smith Center. Sophomore Phillip Graeter finished sixth in the men's 200-yard IM with a time of 1:56.05, while junior Marshall Seedorff posted a time of 21.60 in the 50-yard freestyle on Friday, .02 faster than he finished against Drexel.
The second day of the Patriot Invitational the preliminary session will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, with the finals starting at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the final day of the three-day invitational, prelims will begin at 9 a.m. and finals begin at 5 p.m.
