Women's Tennis Fall in Tough Matches at ITA Regional

NORFOLK, VA - GW women's tennis faced tough competition in the first day of the ITA Atlantic Regional on Thursday at Old Dominion University.
Sophomore Mimi Hamling and freshman Julia Blakeley both won their qualifying singles first-round matches, but fell in tough qualifying second-round matches.
The duo paired up in the main draw doubles bracket and defeated Tori Ford and Sydney Smith of William & Mary, 8-2. They faced Yasmin Hamza and Holly Johnson of Virginia Tech Friday, falling 8-2.
Junior Jacqueline Corba and freshman Leah Pascarella fell, 9-8 (5), to Richmond's Elizabeth Sims and Kelly Tidwell in their first-round doubles match.
Corba has her first singles match in the main draw at 3:30 p.m. against Penn State's Amy Simidian.
