Women's Rowing Continues Fall Racing Schedule at Occoquan Chase

WOODBRIDGE, VA - The George Washington women's rowing team continued their fall racing schedule on Sunday afternoon at the Occoquan Chase in Woodbridge, VA. The Colonials recorded fourth- and eighth-place finishes (out of 18 crews) in the Open Varsity Eight
"It was great to have another opportunity to see where we are, and how we are developing this fall", said head coach Eric Carcich. "We are learning every single day".
The Colonials recorded fourth- and eighth-place finishes in the Open Varsity Eight with times of 16:48.97 and 17:08.00, respectively
Sophomore Gabrielle Uzdin was the coxswain for the Colonials' fourth-place boat. Sophomore Annie Morse sat stroke, junior Morgan Ellis sat in the seventh seat, freshman Madison Townley rowed from the sixth seat, sophomore Anna Kaminski sat in the fifth seat, freshman Mary Duff rowed from the fourth seat, sophomore Claire Ashcraft sat in the third seat, sophomore Brittany Riley sat in the second seat and junior Rachel Roth sat stroke.
The crew of the Colonials eighth place boat consisted of junior Megan Kearns (coxswain), freshman Julia Randle (stroke), junior Anne Kuznicki (7), senior Alexandra Hamilton (6), junior Maryann Grunseth (5), freshman Bethany Grim (4), sophomore Hayley Evans (3), sophomore Brittany Riley (2) and freshman Megan Culberson (bow).
GW also had four boats compete in the Open Varsity Four. The Colonials had boats finish in seventh (18:26.10), eighth (18:28.97), 12th-place (18:58.63), and 21st-place (20:07.63) out of 25 competing crews.
"What I like about my team right now is our willingness to work hard until we get it right" said Carcich. "We didn't exactly get it right this weekend, but we are getting closer to where we need to be."
The George Washington women's rowing team returns to action Saturday at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, MA.
