ANNAPOLIS, MD -- GW senior Cole Turner and junior Brendan Barrack each turned in four-over-par 146s to tie for 19th place in the 91-player field at the Navy Fall Classic played Saturday and Sunday in Annapolis, MD.
As a team, GW placed sixth in the 17-team field at the 6,528-yard, par 71 U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course. The Colonials' 36-hole total 589 (294-295) was the best of the four Atlantic 10 Conference teams that competed. GW bested Saint Joseph's (592, T-7th) by three strokes, Temple (603, 11th) by 14 strokes and La Salle (676, 17th) by a combined 87 strokes.
Turner, who shot a 67 last weekend in upstate New York, carded a 72-74 while Barrack fired a second-round 68 Sunday to jump 46 spots following Saturday's 78.
GW junior Tyler Wendelken was just one stroke behind his teammates with a 147 (74-73).
Northwestern was 16 under par for the event and destroyed the field after catching fire Sunday and posting a 270 for a 36-hole total 552. The host Midshipmen of Navy were 14 strokes back on their home course and eight strokes ahead of third-place Seton Hall (574).
Northwestern's Sam Chien won medalist honors with a 7-under 135 after a second-round 64 (71-64) to edge teammate David Lipsky (69-68--137) by two strokes.
The Colonials next compete in the John Dallio Memorial hosted by DePaul, Sept. 27-28, at Lemont, IL.
