WASHINGTON, DC -- Andrea Moss has been hired as assistant coach for GW softball, head coach Kim Staehle announced Thursday. Moss replaces former assistant coach Lisa Iancin.
"I am extremely pleased to have Andrea join our staff," said Staehle. "She brings a wealth of coaching experience to our program and I am confident our student-athletes will excel with her help."
Moss comes to GW off an appearance at the NCAA Division II Women's College World Series with the North Georgia College & State University Saints. The Saints finished the season 50-5 and ranked No. 3 in Division II. The Saints coaching staff was later named the 2009 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Southeast Regional Coaching Staff of the Year. In her two seasons as an assistant coach at North Georgia, Moss was responsible for the pitching staff, helping her players with mechanics and other day-to-day workouts, as well as her daily duties for the program.
Before joining the coaching staff at North Georgia, Moss played for the Saints, recording a 23-10 record with a 1.99 earned run average for the 2007 season, earning All-Conference honors in the Peach Belt Conference. She appeared in 41 games with 31 starts and 25 complete games. Moss pitched a team-high 210 2/3 innings in 2007, walking just 51 batters and striking out 190. Moss holds Saints' career records in wins (23), complete games (25), innings pitched (210 2/3) and strikeouts (190).
Moss graduated from North Georgia in May 2008, with a bachelor's of science in physical education.
