WASHINGTON, DC - Lindsay Lewis, former assistant coach at James Madison and two-time All-American at Boston University, has been named assistant coach for the George Washington women's lacrosse team, head coach Tara Hannaford announced today.
"We're thrilled that Lindsay is joining our program because she possesses a tremendous amount of lacrosse experience and knowledge," said Hannaford, who will enter her third year at GW in 2010. "Lindsay will make an immediate impact and help us return to the Atlantic 10 Championship."
Lewis will serve as defensive coach and recruiting coordinator and assist with practice and travel planning and scouting. She most recently spent the past three seasons as an assistant at James Madison. The Dukes were 25-25 overall in Lewis' three seasons from 2007-09, highlighted by a trip to the Colonial Athletic Association title game in 2007.
A four-year starter at Boston University, Lewis was an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Second Team All-American in 2006 after earning third team honors in 2005. The four-time All-America East selection is the Terriers' career leader with 187 goals, ranks fourth all-time in points (232) and draw controls (132) and is in the program's career Top 10 in ground balls, caused turnovers, assists and games played. She guided BU to three America East championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a quarterfinal appearance in 2005.
Since graduating from Boston University with a bachelor's degree in hospitality administration in 2006, Lewis has continued playing competitively with the United States' Developmental Lacrosse Team and participated in the U.S. World Cup team's training camp in June. She has also worked with Brine/Warrior Lacrosse's research and development team, providing input in product design and testing and running promotional camps and clinics.
