WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University volleyball coach Jojit Coronel has announced that Brianna DeBrock has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Colonials beginning in 2009. She is the second member of the Colonials' 2009 recruiting class joining 6-1 outside hitter Lauren Whyte.
A 6-foot-3 middle hitter from Phoenix, AZ, BeBrock helped lead her Xavier College Prep team to back-to-back Arizona 5A State Championships. She was named to the Second team 2008 class 5A volleyball for Arizona. She also competes for the Arizona Volleyball Academy.
"I'm excited to add Brianna to our incoming class of 2009 recruits," Coronel said. "Brianna will become an excellent middle hitter for us and will provide experience and depth offensively and defensively. She has a high contact point, works real hard and transitions extremely well. She has a great personality and is a very bright young lady."
DeBrock is the second Xavier Prep volleyball player to come to GW. Former Colonial Stefanie Francis (`94) also played four years at GW following a scholastic career at Xavier College Preparatory High School.
GW concluded the 2008 season with a 19-11 overall record, 9-4 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and qualified for the A-10 Championship tournament for the second straight year.
