WASHINGTON, DC - The GW Golf team was the recipient of the 2009 Colonial Endowment Academic Excellence Award, with a grade-point average of 3.406. The award was presented at Monday's Senior Honors Luncheon on the GW campus.

The Colonials golfers had the highest men's team GPA based on the average team GPA for the Spring 2008 and Fall 2008 semesters. Under first-year coach Terry Shaffer, nine of the squad's 10 players recorded a GPA above 3.0, which included five with a 3.5 or better. The award was presented to the squad by Academic Learning Specialist, Ellen Carter Woodbridge.
