
Early Runs Lift Colonials Over Hawks, 14-8

ARLINGTON, VA - All 14 runs for George Washington scored in the first three innings The George Washington University baseball team returned to Barcroft Park Thursday afternoon and jumped on the Hawks of Maryland-Eastern Shore early in their 14-8 win.
The Colonials scored all 14 runs in the first three innings to jump out to a 14-4 lead they would not surrender. Sean Rockey and Andrew Haberern both hit home runs for the Colonials and junior Bobby Lucas pitched five innings to pick up the win.
Three freshman relievers came in the game to spell Lucas and combined for four shutout innings. Marshall Seedorff made his Colonial debut and pitched two scoreless innings and only allowed one hit. Jay Lively threw a scoreless eighth and Luke Mirabella closed the game for the Colonials, who picked up their third win of the season.
Senior Andrew Haberern had the biggest day for the Colonials as he went 4-5 with a home run and drove in four runs. Sophomore Brendon Kelliher also had two hits and two RBI's to help the Colonials out of the fifth spot in the order.
The game was keyed by six second inning runs and seven third inning runs for the Colonials which gave them 14 runs after the first three innings.
The Colonials now have a busy weekend scheduled as they have two doubleheaders this weekend against Fairleigh Dickinson. Both doubleheaders are scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
