MILAN, ITALY - On the final day of our unforgettable tour, we ate our last Italian breakfast and drove to the airport in Milan. We made it through customs and security just in time to board our plane. We then flew into Philadelphia, had a brief layover, and made our way back to the nation's capital.
Well, this is the end of our journey. It was an incredible trip that exceeded our every expectation. We played some great volleyball, traveled to three different countries [including our pit stop in Austria], experienced the Italian culture and way of life, and saw some of the best volleyball players in the world. This trip also brought our team of 10 women even closer together. It's not always easy spending so much time together, but it only seemed to strengthen our relationships.
We had some unforgettable moments including: re-enactments of gladiator fights in the Roman Arena, learning Italian volleyball chants, seeing local artists at work, gondola rides through the "city of water," playing Marco Polo as we pass the famous buildings, press conference in Belluno, devouring the world's best pasta, sledding and snowball fights, Maddy's flu/pink eye/double pink eye/black eye disasters, dinner with the other teams, watching unlimited hours of EuroSport figure skating, Marisa's new nickname "Fizzio!" [it means "trainer" in Italian, make sure to call her that next time you see her], Jo's jumping pictures, Amy's hilarious stories, AJ's love-struck admirer Marta, drinking hot chocolate while gazing out at the breathtaking Lake Bled, finger painting, photoshoots in every city, being ambassadors of the United States of America, tee-shirt exchanges, rappin' in the van, , "prosciutto cauldo", "DOber Donnnnn".
Thank you again to everyone that made this trip possible. We had an amazing time and cannot thank you enough. Sincerely, Liz Moult and Maggie Wright
