WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington women's basketball team encourages students and fans to Meet the Colonials at an open practice session at Charles E. Smith Center this Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm.
Admission is free for the event, which will offer fans an up-close look at the 2008-09 Colonials women's basketball team and first-year head coach Mike Bozeman's coaching style and philosophies. Doors will open for practice at 9:30 am, with the Meet the Colonials session to begin at 11:00 am, followed by food and refreshments at the close of practice at 12:30 pm.
GW returns two starters - seniors Jessica Adair and Antelia Parrish - and six letterwinners from last year's 27-7 squad which advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season and ranked 14th in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Top 25. The Colonials also boast seven newcomers to this year's roster, highlighted by District natives Yolanda Lavender and Tiana Myers.
GW hosts DT-3 All-Stars in an exhibition game Wednesday, Nov. 5, before tipping-off the 2008-09 season against Maryland-Baltimore County at Smith Center, Saturday, Nov. 15. This year's schedule features 17 home dates and 13 opponents that qualified for postseason play last season, including two-time defending national champion Tennessee Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 pm.
