WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University softball team will be holding open walk-on tryouts for its 2008 team on Friday, Sept. 7, through Sunday, September 9, at the Mount Vernon Softball Complex. The complex is located at 2100 Foxhall Rd., NW.
The tryout is open to all female GW students who are enrolled on a full-time basis and have graduated high school. In order to try out, interested students must stop by the GW softball office located at 613 22nd St., NW, directly across from the Charles E. Smith Athletic Center, to pick up appropriate forms. The forms must be completed prior to the Sept. 7 tryout. The student must also have her own insurance, as well as gloves and shoes.
For further information, contact head coach Kim Staehle at (202) 994-2086 or at kstaehle@gwu.edu.
GW (23-27, 9-11 A-10) is coming off the best season in its five-year history of the program. The Colonials appeared in their first-ever Atlantic 10 Tournament in 2007 as the No. 6 seed. GW held leads in both opening round games versus No. 3 seed, Saint Louis, and No. 5 seed, Charlotte, but were defeated in both contests.
