Elana Meyers Tabbed First Team All-Atlantic 10

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Senior Elana Meyers was named Atlantic 10 First-Team All-Conference and Co Student-Athlete of the Year, league officials announced on Tuesday. The conference's coaches and sports information directors conducted the voting.
Meyers had a spectacular final season as she led the Colonials to their first-ever Atlantic 10 Tournament. The Douglasville, GA, native finished second in the Atlantic 10 with a .413 overall batting average. She led the A10 in conference-only batting average, hitting .532.
This is the second consecutive year that Meyers received both honors. Meyers is joined on the first team by Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and Co Student-Athlete of the Year, Adrienne Repsher of Temple; Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year, Brandice Balschmiter, Stacy Cullington, Candice Molinari, and Amanda Acampora of Massachusetts; Cee Brooks and Kristi Killough of Charlotte; Saint Louis' Jill Pursell and Ashley Levan; and Allison Storc of Fordham.
The Second Team consists of Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, Nicole Ayers, Meloissa Andrews, Krystle Henry, and Allison Twarowski of Fordham; Amanda Morin, Lauren Proctor, and Bailey Sander of Massachusetts; Charlotte's Sarah Malene and Becky Matthews; Jessica Rohn of Temple; and Dayton's Sheena Rothwell.
Ayers and Sanders were joined on the Rookie Team by Mary Pat Conville of La Salle; Fordham's Erin Fisher; Nicki Jost of Saint Louis; Temple's Krystle Metzler; Molly Meyer of Dayton; Sherri Thompson of St. Bonaventure; and Whitney Williams of Massachusetts.
Elaine Sortino of Massachusetts earned the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year award after the Minutemen went a perfect 18-0 in Atlantic 10 competition.
The sixth seeded Colonials will be in action in their first-ever conference Tournament on Wednesday, May 9, when they take on the third seeded, Saint Louis Billikens. The Colonials split their doubleheader with the Billikens on Senior Day, as Meyers recorded her 200th career hit and game-winning Grand Slam in game two.
