Golf Ties for 9th at GW Invitational

BETHANY BEACH, DE -- GW sophomore Juan Pablo Zuluaga carded a two-round 150 (73-77) as the low Colonial at the GW Invitational Saturday-Sunday at the par-72, 6,834-yard Bear Trap Dunes Golf Course on the Delaware Shore. Penn won the 24-team tournament after shooting a combined 585 (286-299), three strokes ahead of Longwood (588--291-297). Seton Hall was third with a team total of 591 (290-301). Both GW's A and B teams placed in a four-way tie for ninth, each with a 615. The Colonials tied Saint Joseph's and Skidmore.
Seton Hall's Kyle Morris won individual medalist honors with a three-under 141 (68-73) edging Yale's Mark Matza (142--71-71) by a stroke.
Zuluaga sank eight birdies and played the par 5s at two-under-par for the tournament. GW senior Eddie Newland tied for 28th with a two-round 151 (74-77). GW newcomer Sebastian Palomares recorded at team-best 27 pars over the 36 holes.
Next up for the Colonials is the 36-hole Navy Spring Invitational, April 6-7, at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course.
