PHILADELPHIA, PA - Junior women's basketball player Kimberly Beck was chosen the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced on Monday.
Beck, who also was tabbed A-10 Co-Player of the Week on Jan. 1, was named CSTV's Player of the Game following her 16-point, seven-assist performance in a 72-53 victory at Richmond on Feb. 3. Her seven assists against the Spiders gave her 458 for her career, surpassing Anna Montanana for third place all-time in program history. Beck also had two steals at Richmond, giving her 191 for her career, four shy of passing Lisa Cermignano and Myriah Lonergan for 12th place at GW. Beck, who split the award with Charlotte's Danielle Burgin, finished with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor, including 1-of-3 from three-point range, and 3-of-4 at the foul line.
Beck continues to pace the A-10 in assists (5.57 apg) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.21) and is second in the league in three-point field goal percentage (44.2 percent).
GW (19-2, 8-0 A-10) vaulted to No. 8 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll earlier Monday afternoon, the program's highest ranking in 15 years.
After winning four straight road games, GW returns to Smith Center this Thursday, Feb. 8, to host Duquesne at 7:00 pm. The Colonials have won 10 consecutive games at home, matching the 14th longest streak in the country. A triumph versus the Dukes would mark the program's and McKeown's 16th 20-win season and the earliest any GW women's basketball team has reached 20 victories.
