Hilary King Tabbed Atlantic 10 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Hilary King (Canal Winchester, OH/Pickerington North) has been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week it was announced by league officials on Monday. King led the team to a 3-1 record last weekend while leading the team with three home runs, seven runs batted in, a 2.167 slugging percentage and four walks.
On Friday, in the opening game of the weekend versus Oakland University, Hilary smashed two three-run home runs in her two at bats to help the Colonials win their season opener, 14-4. In a 14-5 win against Mercer, King drew a walk in her first at bat, then stole second base. She scored later in the inning. King smacked her third home run of the weekend in her second plate appearance against the Bears and drew a base on balls later in the game.
GW split their games on Saturday, but King's dominance was well known as she drew a walk in a loss to Austin Peay. In the later game on Saturday against Mercer, King went 1-1 with a single, a stolen base and another walk in a 16-1 win.
This is the first time in King's career she has been recognized with an Atlantic 10 weekly award.
The Colonials' home opener has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 1:00 pm at the Mount Vernon Softball Complex located at 2100 Foxhall Road, NW. GW (3-1) will host UMBC in a doubleheader.
