WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University's baseball 2007 season opener at Georgetown, originally scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed due to impending inclement weather. No make-up date has been announced. The two schools are scheduled to meet March 15 at GW.
The Colonials will begin their season this weekend when they travel to #8 Virginia for a three-game series. The opening game is set for Friday, February 16, at 4:00 p.m. The Cavaliers are 2-1 on the year after competing in the Springmaid Beach Resort Tournament this past weekend, where they downed both Elon and North Florida, but fell to host-school Coastal Carolina. GW is 4-6 all-time against UVA.
GW finished the 2006 season with a record of 25-34 overall, 13-12 in the A-10. The Colonials posted a 3-2 record in the Atlantic 10 Baseball Tournament and ousted three teams, including top-seeded Rhode Island, before falling to runner-up St. Bonaventure.
