Volleyball Mauls Morgan State, 3-1

BALTIMORE, MD -- The GW volleyball team got a career-high 31 kills from senior Janine Brown to cruise past Morgan State, 3-1, in a non-conference match Thursday night in Baltimore. The Colonials won by the scores, 30-28, 30-22, 26-30, 30-18 in two hours, eight minutes. It marked GW's fourth victory over the Bears in as many meetings.
Brown added 12 digs and hit .343 while teammate Liz Moult contributed her career-high 20 kills in 46 attempts for a .348 hitting percentage. Junior Maggie Wright recorded a team-high 25 digs while Abby Syverson hit .375 with 11 kills and five blocks. Setter Jess Buche assisted on 58 of the Colonials' 72 kills.
For the match, GW out-hit Morgan State, .273 (72-21-187) to .167 (52-23-174) and the Colonials were effective at the net combining for 10 total blocks (3 solo, 14 assists) to four total blocks for the Bears.
Morgan State (3-13) was led by Jeniqua Moran's 13 kills while Teneika Fellows added a team-high 25 digs.
GW (10-9) hosts Long Island University (9-9) in another non-conferecnce match Friday at 7 p.m. at Smith Center.
