WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University softball and baseball teams will host their first annual "Dinner on the Diamond" on Wednesday, October 17 at the Mount Vernon Softball Complex at 4:30 pm.
During this occasion, GW students and residents of the local community will get a chance to meet the GW Softball and Baseball teams, participate in fun games, a silent auction, as well as enjoy a BBQ dinner. Music will also be provided.
Admission for the event is $10 for GW students and $15 for Non GW students. Children under the age of 12 will be admitted for just $7. The cost of admission covers dinner, games, and the chance to win free prizes.
GW Softball (23-27, 9-11 A-10) is coming off the best season in its five-year history of the program. The Colonials appeared in their first-ever Atlantic 10 Tournament in 2007 as the No. 6 seed. GW held leads in both opening round games versus No. 3 seed, Saint Louis, and No. 5 seed, Charlotte, but were defeated in both contests.
GW Baseball was 23-31-1 overall in 2007 and 14-13 in the A-10, finishing just one spot out of the conference tournament, despite ending the year with a season-best six-game winning streak. It was their 14th straight season with at least 20 wins.
To purchase tickets in advance or for more information, call the GW Softball office at (202) 994-4637, or email Asst. Softball Coach Lisa Iancin at liancin@gwu.edu.
