REHOBOTH BEACH, DE - GW freshman Tyler Wendelken (Samammish, WA) fired a two-round 142 to place second at the sixth annual Rehoboth Beach Fall Invitational Monday on the Delaware Shore. The 36-hole tournament, hosted by The George Washington University, was held at the par-71, 6,480-yard Kings Creek C.C. in Rehoboth Beach, DE.
The Colonials took the top two spots in the final team standings with the B team shooting a 585 (291-294) to edge the GW A team by a stroke. Colonials' freshman Michael Perlmutter (Philadelphia, PA) tied for third place with a 143 (71-72) among 65 entrants. La Salle's John Lorenzo was the individual medalist with a 139 that included a first-round 68.
GW has now won the event three times in its six-year history. "I'm very happy with the way our guys played," GW coach Scott Allen said. "I came into the tournament hoping to have seven players finish in the Top 15 and we wound up having seven players among the Top 19 that included a pair of freshmen in the top three. It's a glimpse of the positive future of GW Golf."
