WASHINGTON, DC -- The George Washington men's basketball team moved up two spots to No. 8 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Top 25 polls released Feb. 6. It marks the 14th straight week in the AP Top 25 becoming the longest single-season streak in the program's history. GW's No. 8 ranking is its highest ranking since being ranked No. 7 the week of Jan. 3, 1956.
GW was ranked 13 straight weeks during the 1954-55 season including the all-time high of No. 5 for the week of Feb. 15, 1955. GW was ranked for 19 straight weeks in the AP poll beginning in the 1954-55 season and continued through the week of Jan. 10, 1956.
At 18-1, George Washington is off to its second-best start in the history of the program. GW won 19 of its first 20 games in 1953-54. The Colonials will next play on Wednesday when they host Dayton (11-12, 3-6 A-10) at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m.
