WASHINGTON, DC - The #20/20 George Washington women's basketball team hosts Auburn in its non-conference home finale at the Smith Center on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
GW (8-2) is meeting Auburn (9-2) for the first time in school history, marking the Colonials third first-time opponent so far this season (Arizona, TCU). GW is 6-16 all-time against SEC foes, including a Dec. 7 loss at #6/5 Tennessee.
At 8-2, the Colonials are tied for the fifth-best start in school history with the 1985-86 squad. GW's top-4 all-time starts each led to 20-plus win seasons and trips to the NCAA Tournament.
GW is coming off a 74-66 victory over Liberty at Smith Center on Sunday, a game in which five players scored double-figures for the fourth time this season. The Colonials overcame a 12-point first-half deficit to defeat the Lady Flames.
Auburn is in the midst of a six-game winning streak after downing Ohio, 73-54, on Wednesday. DeWanna Bonner leads the Tigers in scoring (17.3ppg) and rebounding (9.0 rpg). AU boasts eight players 6-0 or taller, led by 6-7 pivot KeKe Carrier.
The Department of Athletics announced earlier this week that men's and women's home basketball games can now be viewed via live video streaming at www.GWsports.com (GW All-Access Release). Saturday's game will be the first women's contest broadcast on this new subscription service.
