Volleyball Signs Two Recruits for 2007

WASHINGTON, DC -- The George Washington University volleyball program has announced that two recruits have signed national letters-of-intent to attend the University this fall, GW head coach Jojit Coronel has announced. Leah Hill and Hannah Stuart, both outside hitters, will play for GW in the fall.
Leah Hill (Ontario, NY/Wayne Central H.S.) is a 5-foot-9 outside hitter from Ontario, NY. She has earned numerous awards including the Wayne Teacher's Association Citizenship Award in 2006. She is a National Honor Society member and Honor Roll student and a 2006 Wendy's High School Heisman nominee. She was named MVP, as well as to the 2006 All-Tournament Team, and first team All-League for the Section V Class A Champions. She helped lead Wayne Central to a third-place showing at the New York State Class A State Championship Tournament. Hill also competes for the Volley FX U18 Magic Team volleyball club and competed in the 2006 18 Open Junior Olympics. "Leah is probably one of the most athletic players I have recruited," Coronel said. "Standing just 5-foot-9, she plays fearlessly against any block. We will be losing a tremendous amount of defense and ball control with the graduation of All-Conference hitter Juliene McLaughlin, but Leah's skills in the backcourt are just as strong."
Hannah Stuart (Bainbridge Island, WA/Bainbridge Island H.S.) is a 6-2 outside hitter and an outstanding student. A four-year starter for her high school team, Stuart was named MVP and first team all-Seattle 3A Metro League Mountain Division while hitting .385 with 368 kills, 417 digs, 61 aces and 50 blocks as a junior at Bainbridge Island H.S. She was named a Fall Athlete All-Star by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer in 2005 as well as Athlete of the Fall by the Bremerton Sun. As a freshman, she was named Gatorade `Rookie of the Year' in 2003 after posting 150 kills and 80 blocks. "Hannah was a highly-recruited player and we are thrilled about her decision to become a Colonial," Coronel said. "Six-foot-two outside hitters that can pass and play defense are hard to come by. The A-10 is getting taller, faster and stronger and the addition of Hannah is going to help us in many facets of the game."
"We anticipate both players contributing a great deal to our team as freshmen," Coronel added. "Long term, this duo will be exciting to watch in the years to come."
