McLaughlin, Syverson, Wright Earn A-10 All-Conference Honors

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Senior co-captain Juliene McLaughlin, sophomore Maggie Wright and freshman Abby Syverson were honored by the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Conference Teams for volleyball Wednesday as voted by the league's 10 head coaches. McLaughlin was named All-Conference Honorable Mention and Syverson was named to the All-Rookie Team in voting conducted among the Conference's head coaches while Wright was selected to the Academic All-Conference Team in a vote by the conference's Sports Information Directors.
McLaughlin led the Colonials in points (365.0) and kills with 323 (3.44 kpg) and ranks fifth GW's all-time career kills list with 1,109 and 10th on the career digs list with 1,096. Her 358 digs is second-most on the Colonials. The Ontario, Canada native was selected to a pair of All-Tournament teams this season, the GW Invitational and the Hokie Fall Invitational at Virginia Tech.
Syverson was the Colonials' top rookie this season. The Minneapolis native ranked fourth on the team in points with 242.5. She led the squad in service aces with 37 and was second on the team in blocks with 64. Her .279 hitting (171 kills) percentage ranked second highest on the squad.
Wright led the team in digs with 372 as the team's libero. A native of Cortlandt Manor, NY, Wright had the highest GPA on the six-member A-10 Academic All-Conference team as an exercise science major and was the only sophomore selected for the honor.
The Colonials posted a final record of 14-12 overall, 6-7 in the A-10.
