Men's and Women Swimming Both Take Third At Loyola

The George Washington University men's and women's swimming and diving teams both finished third in a quad meet at Loyola against Navy, Catholic and the host Greyhounds on Saturday afternoon.
Navy and Loyola placed first and second, respectively, on both the men's and women's side.
Sophomore David Zenk won three individual events for the men, and freshman Emily Leik also took home one individual title for the women.
Zenk took first in both the 100-yard freestyle (47.10) and the 100-yard backstroke (51.85). Zenk also took home the 200-yard IM in 1:56.53.
Leik took home the 200-yard IM in 2:16.19, and also took third in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.13.
The women's 400-yard freestyle relay team of sophomores Jessica Miga, Luciana Maggiolo and Laura Myers, as well as junior Molly Moss also took first in 3:47.77. Miga also took third in the 5-yard freestyle as well in 25.80.
Sophomore Ariana Berdini placed second and third in the 200-yard breastroke (2:31.45) and 100-yard breastsroke (1:10.42) respectively.
Freshman Katrina Timlin finished just ahead of Berdini in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.35 finishing in second.
The men's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Seniors Jeff Cohn and Dan Mahoney, junior Jonathan Sabin and freshman Stephen Cosme took second in 3:21.14. Sabin also took third and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (54.17) and 200-yard backstroke (2:00.95) respectively.
Senior Shannon Ma took third and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.83) and 50-yard freestyle (26.07) respectively.
Sophomore Lauren Fuchs also placed well finishing third in the 200-yard IM in 2:16.41.
Newcomers Cascade Tuholske, Christa Gorenflo, and Cissey Ye also placed well in their respective races. Tuholske took third in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:02.48. Gorenflo placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:36.09. Ye hit the wall fourth in the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:11.00.
The Colonials will be back in action next Saturday, October 21 to take on cross-town rival Georgetown in a dual meet at 1:00 p.m.
