Volleyball Falls to Dayton, 3-0

DAYTON, OH -- The George Washington volleyball team dropped its second straight A-10 match Saturday night to Dayton in three games at UD's Frericks Center. The Flyers won by scores of 30-20, 30-23 and 30-27 to improve to 6-9 overall, 1-1 in the A-10 while the Colonials fall to 4-9 on the year and 0-2 in A-10.
Sophomore outside hitter Janine Brown accounted for a team-high 11 points on eight kills, a pair of service aces and a block solo.
GW junior Kelly Kabbes also recorded eight kills and a block assist for 8.5 points. Senior libero Jessica Vesey added a team-high nine digs.
The Flyers' Robynne Green led all players with 14 kills and hit .435 while Jamie-Lee Richards hit .522 with 13 kills and just one error. UD setter Nicole Schott had 48 assists.
Dayton (6-9, 1-1 A-10) controlled every aspect of the match from start to finish. UD amassed 21 more kills (57-36) than GW and was nearly twice as efficient on offense by hitting .391 (57-14-110) compared to .162 (36-19-105) for GW. The Flyers also had the upper hand in three other categories: blocks (8.0 to 4.0), digs (46-36) and service aces (6-4) although the Colonials committed eight fewer service errors than UD.
GW (4-9, 0-2 A-10) takes I-95 North to Baltimore Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. match at Maryland-Baltimore County. GW's next A-19 match takes place Friday against La Salle at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center.
