Montañana to Compete at 2005 Mediterranean Games

WASHINGTON, DC - Former George Washington women's basketball standout Anna Montañana will compete for her native Spain in the upcoming 2005 Mediterranean Games. The 15th edition of the Games will be held in Almeria, Spain from June 24 - July 1.
Spain is in Group B for the six-team double-elimination women's tournament, and will compete against fellow Group B members France on June 26 and Turkey on June 28. Croatia, Italy, and Greece are also in the tournament and are members of Group A.
Montañana graduated from GW in May with a degree in international business. She led the Colonials to a 23-9 overall record in 2004-05 and averaged 16.7 points per game. She was a WBCA/Kodak Honorable Mention All-American following her senior season and was twice named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team. Montañana finished her career with 1,330 points (12th all-time) and a career scoring average of 11.1 ppg. She ranks eighth at GW in career rebounds (746) and third in career assists (452).
