Colonials Bring In Four for 2006

WASHNGTON, DC - George Washington women's lacrosse head coach Chrissy Lombard announced commitments from four scholastic standouts on June 20. Brianne Brennan, Katie Lilly, and Katherine Sampson have each signed National Letters of Intent (NLIs) to compete for the Colonials beginning in 2006 and Emily Sternbach has agreed to join the program as a walk-on.
Brennan, a defender and native of Swarthmore, PA, attended Ridley High School in Folsom, PA. She helped lead the Raiders to two runner-up finishes at the PIAA 3A state championship tournament and earned first-team all-central honors following her junior and senior seasons.
Lilly played midfield and defense at South River High School in Edgewater, MD. In 2004, she helped guide the Seahawks to the Maryland East Regional championship and the Anne Arundel County regular-season title. Lilly was a two-year starter at South River and led the team with 39 caused turnovers as a senior. She hails from Riva, MD.
Sampson was a four-time all-league midfielder at Mamaroneck High School in New York. She also earned all-section accolades three times and was selected to the Journal News' All-Westchester First Team as a junior and senior. Sampson, a native of Larchmont, NY finished her scholastic career with 203 goals and 87 assists.
Sternbach, from Chapel Hill, NC, played midfield and attack on three state championship teams at East Chapel Hill High School. She led the club in scoring as a junior and was voted the squad's MVP following the season. Sternbach was a member of the first USL Lower Atlantic National Team and earned all-conference honorable mention honors as a senior.
"I'm very excited about the players we have coming in," Lombard said. "Losing nine seniors from last year's team, I was really looking for players that could contribute right away and everyone coming in has that ability."
George Washington went 13-5 in 2004, Lombard's first year at the helm of the program, and qualified for the Atlantic 10 Championship for the first time in the program's history.
