
GW Signs Nine Lacrosse Players For 2007 Season

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington women's lacrosse head coach Chrissy Lombard announced commitments from nine players to attend GW and compete on the women's lacrosse team for the 2007 season. Three of GW's incoming class members are from high schools in the Washington, DC region, while five are from the Northeast and one is from California.
GW's three incoming area players are from Virginia and Maryland. Mia Breheny is from Alexandria, VA and attends Bishop Ireton. She plays attack and is on the Tewaaraton Award Preseason Watch List after being First Team All-Conference in high school. Victoria Chapa of Silver Spring, MD and plays attack for Good Counsel who won the WCAC Championship. She was First Team All-County and Conference and All-Met Honorable Mention. Melanie Pettit is from Severna Park, MD and plays defense for Severna Park High School. She was on the National Tournament Team from the Mid-Atlantic Region and is involved with student government and honor societies.
Two players in the incoming class are from New Jersey. Laura Dominiak is from Mt. Laurel, NJ and has started all four years in defense for Lenape High School. She was named Second Team All-Conference. Marie Murray is from Madison, NJ and plays midfield defense for Loomis Chaffee. She was an Honorable Mention All-North and on the 2005 All-Galaxy Team.
Two players in the incoming class are from New York. Elizabeth St. Lawrence attends Suffern High School in her hometown of the same name where she played midfield all four years. Mallory Staub is from New York City and attends Riverdale Country School and plays attack. She won the Tri Varsity Athlete Award and was selected for the Regional Futures Award.
GW has one incoming player from Villanova, PA. Taylor Donahue attends Radnor High School and plays attack on the 2005 National Tournament Team. She is a member of several honor rolls. One of GW's incoming recruits for the 2007 lacrosse season is from Carlsbad, CA. Kiersten Nagata plays midfield defense for La Costa Canon who had an undefeated season in 2004 and 2005 while also being CIF Regional Champions. She was the Offensive Player of the Year.
George Washington went 13-5 in 2005, Lombard's first year at the helm of the program, and qualified for the Atlantic 10 Championship for the first time in the program's history with a 5-2 A-10 record. It was the Colonials most successful season since the varsity program started in 2002.
