Joens and Oha Sign Pro Contracts

WASHINGTON, DC - Former George Washington women's basketball stars Cathy Joens `04 and Ugo Oha `04 have signed contracts to play professionally in Europe. Joens is the newest member of CB Puig d'en Valls of the Spanish Premiere Leaague, while Oha inked a deal with Ashdod of the Israeli Premiere League.
Joens, who signed in December, will make her debut on Saturday, Jan. 15 when CB Puig d'en Valls takes on USPCEU-ADEC.ESTU. Oha signed with Ashdod on Sunday, January 9 and will compete for the club for the remainder of the season, which runs through March.
Joens won back-to-back Atlantic 10 Player of the Year awards at GW and earned Associated Press (AP) All-America honors following her senior season. She finished her GW career ranked third all-time in points (1,802) and holds the school record for career three-pointers with 291.
Oha competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece as a member of the Nigerian National Team. She was named the A-10's Defensive Player of the Year twice at GW and ranks eighth in career points (1,558) and owns the school record for blocked shots with 355.
Both players were selected in last season's WNBA Draft. Oha was taken with the 24th overall pick by the Connecticut Sun and Joens was chosen with the 30th overall pick by the New York Liberty.
