Golf Hosts Rehoboth Beach Fall Invit. Sept. 29

WASHINGTON, DC - The third annual Rehoboth Beach Fall Invitational, hosted by The George Washington University, will be held on Monday, September 29, at Kings Creek C.C. in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Kings Creek has hosted the 1996 ECAC Championship, the 2000 Delaware State Open, and the 2001 Williamson Cup on the par-72, 6,600-yard course.
The event will be contested over 36 holes, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start and a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start.
Binghamton won last fall's tournament on Sept. 30, 2002 followed by Navy, Iona (3rd) and GW in fourth place. The 2001 event was rained out and the 2000 event was won by Iona College with GW placing second ahead of the University of Maryland in third. This year's field includes three-time MAAC Champions, Iona College which has three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Last spring's winner, Henry Watson from Villanova will be back to defend his title as will runner-up Brian Carroll from GW.
GW is off to it's best start in more than 20 years with a 21-8 record after placing third at Navy Sept. 13-14 and seventh at JMU last weekend. GW also hosts the Rehoboth Beach Spring Invitational April 12, 2004. Spectators are welcome. Visit the Kings Creek C.C. pro shop for a tournament package with rosters and pairings.
