Cathy Joens Named Atlantic 10 Player of the Year

KINGSTON, RI - George Washington senior guard Cathy Joens became the school's fourth Atlantic 10 Player of the Year in the programs history, as the conference announced their annual awards at the tournament banquet as voted on by the coaches.
Joens, who was also named to the All-Conference First Team, was second in the conference in scoring at 17.9 points per game, and ranked second in three-point field goals made, fourth in three-point field goal average, seventh in steals per game and twelfth in assists.
Junior Ugo Oha was named to the All-Conference Second Team and All-Defensive Team. Oha averaged 14.7 points per game this season, eighth in the conference, and led the league in blocks per game for the third-straight season with 2.53 per game.
Also receiving recognition was junior forward Valerie Williams who was name the Atlantic 10 Sixth Player of the Year. This key reserve 6.5 points per game for the season, 2.2 rebounds and shot a team-leading 55.5% from the floor. Williams played a large role in many conference games, coming off the bench to provide consistent production for the Colonials.
