GW Golf 21st at Navy Fall Invitational Colonials Led By Thomas Blankvoort's 147
ANNAPOLIS, MD (Sept. 10, 2001) - GW's Thomas Blankvoort fired a five-over-par 147 to tie for 20th place in the 36-hole Navy Fall Invitational at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course. His 147 (77-70) placed him in a eight-way tie for 20th place among 142 golfers, Saturday and Sunday. The graduate student from Curacao, Netherlands, was the low Colonial in the tournament.
As a team, the Colonials placed 21st (313-299--612) among the 27-team field. GW was 38 strokes off the pace set by Vanderbilt's 574. Pennsylvania was second at 585 followed by Army, George Mason and Lehigh in a three-way tie for third with 589.
Junior Michael Ball (Potomac, MD) was the second-lowest Colonial as he tied for 34th with a two-round total 149 (78-71).
