GW's Stroman Wins Second A-10 Rookie Award

WASHINGTON, DC (Oct. 2) - Freshman Britta Stroman (Richfield, MN/Edina) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for volleyball for the second straight week. Stroman also was recognized by the league for the week of Sept. 19-24.
The 6-foot-2 Minnesota native has been instrumental in helping GW to four straight victories and a 2-0 week with road wins over Maryland-Baltimore County and Fordham.
Stroman posted a double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs in GW's 3-2 triumph over UMBC.
She added 10 kills and nine digs at Fordham Friday, Sept. 28, in the Bronx. The victory over Fordham put the Colonials atop the league standings with a 3-0 record in the A-10. She leads the team in blocking with 15 assists and four solos and she leads the Colonials' starters in hitting percentage (.256) and is third in kills-per-game average (2.60).
Stroman's statistics for the week: two matches, nine games, 25 kills, five errors in 55 attacks for a .364 hitting percentage, three service aces, two assists and three block assists. She averaged 2.78 kills and 2.44 digs per game for the week.
The Colonials (4-6, 3-0 A-10) face their nemesis, Temple (10-3, 3-1 A-10) Tuesday in a 7:00 p.m. match at Philadelphia.
