Xavier Handles GW Volleyball, 3-0

WASHINGTON, DC (Oct. 12) - The GW volleyball team was no match for visiting Xavier as the Musketeers thoroughly dominated GW, 30-12, 30-22, 30-16, Friday in an Atlantic 10 Conference match at GW's Smith Center. Xavier combined to hit .429 with 48 kills and just nine errors compared to .009 (28 kills, 27 errors) for GW.
Sophomore Molly Law (Denver, CO) was the most effective Colonial with a team-high nine kills and a team-high nine digs while hitting .107. Ruth Lazzari (Seal Beach, CA) added seven kills but committed 11 errors for a -.118 hitting percentage. Lazzari also contributed eight digs.
The Colonials took their only lead of the match at 8-7 in game three but Xavier quickly regained control and cruised to victory.
Three Musketeers recorded 10 kills each including Jill Hampton's double-double wiht 10 kills and 11 digs. Teammates Sara Bachus and Katey Wygant each had 10 kills in leading Xavier to its fifth straight victory. Wygant had an errorless hitting performance in 15 swings while getting a pair of block solos and three block assists.
Xavier (13-2, 6-2 A-10) plays at George Mason Saturday in Fairfax, VA.
GW (4-10, 3-4 A-10) braces for Dayton Sunday when the Flyers come to Smith Center for a 1:00 p.m. match.
