GW started off the weekend with a loss to a strong University of Puerto Rico squad 13-4, and held an early lead on the Navy B team before losing 5-3. On Sunday, GW was able to post better results with a solid win over United States Merchant Marine Academy 7-3, and blowing Grove City College out of the water 20-4.
The Grove City College match displayed the fine play of two of the team's freshmen, Pat Dodge (Ballwin, MO/Parkway South) and Jason Grimes (Litchfield, CT/Phillips Exeter). Dodge scored seven of his 10 team-leading goals against Grove City while Grimes set a new single-game record for steals of nine.
GW faces a challenging weekend at the Princeton Invitational with three of the four teams they will be competing against ranked in the top 20.
