Levey Named A-10 Volleyball Player of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC (Sept. 5) - Senior Jill Levey (Bakersfield, CA/Stockdale) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week for volleyball, the conference office has announced.
Levey had an errorless hitting weekend in leading the Colonials to the Chesapeake Invitational title and a 4-0 record to begin the season. Levey hit .765 with 13 kills and zero errors in 17 attacks from the setter position.
An all-Atlantic 10 Conference selection in 1998, Levey averaged 7.42 assists, 1.08 kills, 1.58 digs and 1.58 blocks per game for the tournament.
She was named to the All-Tournament team by the participating coaches. Levey recorded a pair of double-doubles in two GW's four matches last week. She had 31 assists and 12 digs against Wagner in the season-opener Friday and 26 assists with 10 digs against Manhattan last Saturday.
Levey's statistics for the week: four matches, 12 games, 13 kills, zero errors in 17 attempts for a .765 hitting percentage, 89 assists, four service aces, 30 digs and 19 blocks.
GW (5-0) plays No. 9 Florida in the Golden Bear Volleyball Classic Friday at Berkeley, CA.
