Tracee Browns 21 Kills Lead Colonials Past Fordham
BRONX, NY (Sept. 22) - GW evened its A-10 record at 1-1 with a three-game sweep of Fordham by the scores, 15-12, 15-3, 15-11, Friday night at Rose Hill Gym in New York. GW (9-3, 1-1 A-10) came into the match stinging from a disappointing loss at home to Temple Wednesday in the A-10 opener for both teams.
Senior Tracee Brown hit .349 with a match-high 21 kills in 43 swings. Teammates Suzana Manole (11 kills, 18 digs) and Jill Levey (34 assists, 16 digs) each recorded double-doubles with errorless hitting performances in the victory. Manole, with 11 kills in 21 attempts, hit a sparkling .524 for the match.
Freshman Ruth Lazzari had a strong match defensively with 10 digs and added a service ace. Julie Jahnke put down nine kills with three block assists.
Melissa Langness and Kelli Hierlmeier led the Rams (3-7, 1-1 A-10) with seven kills each while Langness added 12 digs.
GW continues conference play Tuesday night at La Salle in Philadelphia. The match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
