Borromeo Falls In Consolation Championship Match

Borromeo advanced to the championship match with a hard-fought 2-6, 6-4 (10-7) victory Saturday over Erica Watson from Army. Sarine Weingarten and Susie Coggin fell victim to second-seeded opponents from Syracuse in their respective singles matches Saturday. Weingarten lost 6-1, 6-0 to Michelle Neveklovska in the Flight "B" singles, while Coggin fell 6-3, 6-4, to Zuzanna Borucka in Flight "C" singles play.
Both of GW's entries in the Flight "B" doubles bracket lost Saturday in the second round as well. Weingarten paired with Katarina Stastny in an 8-1 loss to Penn State's Rebbecca Ho and Martina Kopacova, while the tandem of Tracy Wei and Ghada Skaff lost 8-3 to Cornell's Suzanne Wright and Daniela DelPrete.
In Flight "A" singles consolation action, Skaff lost 7-5, 6-4 in a hard-fought duel with Columbia's Tina Romic. The Colonials return to action Saturday, Feb. 12, with a 1:00 p.m. match at Columbia.
