Volleyball to Face South Carolina in NCAA First Round

Colonials, Gamecocks Join Nebraska, Princeton at Lincoln, NE
WASHINGTON, DC (November 26, 2000) - The George Washington volleyball team will face the University of South Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament on Friday, December 1 at 6:00 p.m. (EST). The host Nebraska Cornhuskers will face the Princeton University Tigers at 8:00 p.m. in the second match of the doubleheader at the Nebraska Coliseum. The winners will face each other on Saturday, December 2 at 8:00 p.m. (EST).
The Colonials, 25-5 and champions of the Atlantic 10 Conference, are 2-2 all-time against the Gamecocks, 21-6. The teams last faced each other in 1990 when the Colonials defeated the Gamecocks in three games, 15-13, 15-5, 15-12, at GW's Smith Center.
This marks GW's second trip to Nebraska for the NCAA Volleyball Tournament. GW lost to the Cornhuskers in the second round of the 1994 NCAAs.
Nebraska joins the University of Hawaii, USC and Wisconsin as the #1 seeds in the 64 team tournament that begins on Thursday, November 30, at campus sites of competing institutions around the country.
