Colonials Extend Streak to Four With Victory over Rhode Island
KINGSTON, RI (Oct. 27) - The GW volleyball team won its fourth straight match by defeating Rhode Island, 15-9, 15-9, 15-8, Friday night in Kingston, RI. The Colonials have won 15 of their last 17 games and are currently second in the Atlantic 10 behind league-leading Temple.
The Colonials combined to hit .315 in dispatching the Rams in one hour, 16 minutes. It marked the second straight match that GW had hit better than .310 as team. The Colonials were coming off a record-tying .313 effort in a five-game victory at George Mason Tuesday.
Senior Tracee Brown led GW with a match-high 13 kills while teammate Renee Arnold double-doubled with 12 kills and 10 digs. Suzanna Manole had 13 digs while Julie Jahnke put down 10 kills with five block assists.
GW freshman Lindsay Ochs recorded her second errorless hitting match in as many outings with four kills in seven attempts for a .571 success rate. She is hitting .375 on the season.
Michelle Fulton led the Rams (4-17, 3-10) with nine kills while Cheri Melson and Yolanda Bogacz contributed eight kills each.
GW (18-4, 9-1 A-10) continues its trip through New England with a stop at Massachusetts Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
