Jahnke Becomes All-Time Block Assists Leader
PITTSBURGH, PA (Oct. 13) GW Volleyball got back on the winning track with a 15-2, 15-2, 15-8 dismantling of Duquesne Friday night in Pittsburgh. Senior Julie Jahnke assisted on five blocks making her the school's all-time leader in career block assists with 419. She surpassed Stefanie Francis' mark of 415 set from 1991-94.
The Colonials, who had a six-match winning streak snapped Wednesday night by Georgetown, were all business in steel town hitting a combined .379 as a team with 49 kills compared to just 28 kills for the Dukes. GW also was sharp on defense with 52 digs compared to 35 for Duquesne.
Senior Tracee Brown led GW with 13 kills and Jahnke added 12 kills while Suzana Manole contributed 11 digs.
The Dukes (11-10, 2-6 A-10) were led by Brooke Saunders and Jacqui Gerlach with eight kills each.
GW (15-4, 7-1 A-10) next hosts Fordham Saturday, Oct. 21 in a 5:00 p.m. match at Smith Center.
