WASHINGTON, DC (July 6, 1999) -- Scott Reed was named head coach of the George Washington University men's and women's water polo teams, GW Director of Athletics Jack Kvancz announced.
Reed will be the first head coach of the women's water polo team, a sport GW is adding for the spring 2000 season. The men's team finished 18-13 last season, and was ranked as high as No. 20 at one point during the season.
Reed comes to GW from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va., where he served as the Head Water Polo Coach and an assistant coach with the university's men's and women's swimming teams since the fall of 1997.
Reed graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management, and was a captain on the nationally ranked Minuteman water polo squad. Reed also was a member of the UMass swim team, and he presently holds the school record in the 1000 freestyle.
Reed served as a graduate assistant in Aquatics at Eastern Kentucky University, where he received a Master of Science degree in Sport Administration in 1997.
