Volleyball Falls To Virginia Tech, 3-1

BLACKSBURG, VA (Oct. 1, 1999) -- GW got a match-high 15 kills from junior Suzana Manole and 13 kills from junior Tracee Brown but committed 46 attack errors and 14 service errors in dropping a 3-1 decision to Virginia Tech (15-6, 7-15, 11-15, 11-15) Friday night at Cassell Coliseum. The loss was just the second in the last eight matches for the Colonials, who fell to 8-5 overall, 3-2 in the A-10. The Colonials played without kills leader Gabriela Mojska.
Junior Julie Jahnke contributed a double-double with 11 kills and a match-high 17 digs but the Colonials managed to hit just .078 (61k-46e-193att) as a team.
GW continued to block well as they combined for 27 block assists led by Brown's eight and six by Jahnke. Virginia Tech, led by Christine Shubat's 13 kills, improved to 5-9, 4-1 in the A-10.
GW (8-5, 3-2 A-10) plays at Xavier Friday, Oct. 8, in Cincinnati and at the University of Dayton Saturday.
