Stephen McNamara is going into his fourth year at GW and is currently responsible for academic support for men's and women's cross country and track/field, golf, lacrosse, tennis, men's soccer and volleyball. Stephen came to GW from the University of Kansas (KU) where he served as an academic advisor in the biology department.
Before his time at KU, Stephen pursued a master’s degree in Higher Educational Leadership from Texas Christian University (TCU) where he served as a graduate assistant in the office of housing and residence life. During his second year, he also worked part-time in TCU’s Athletics Academic Services Office as an academic advisor assisting the men's and women's swimming and diving teams. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisc., he earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. During his time at Spalding, Stephen was the men’s basketball student assistant, and he credits that opportunity with establishing his passion for student-athlete support services.
