GW Gymnastics Head Coach Stephanie Worrell is pleased to announce the addition of Sunny Marchand to the coaching staff as of the fall 2024 semester.
Marchand arrives to Foggy Bottom from Bowling Green State University (BGSU), serving most recently as the Associate Head Gymnastics Coach. In her tenure with the Falcons, Marchand guided the team through training for the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise rotations. She also served as the recruiting coordinator for the program during her time with the Falcons. Marchand also began her coaching career in collegiate gymnastics in 2013 as an assistant coach at BGSU, coaching the vault and floor teams to new heights. These efforts resulted in two individuals receiving MAC vault titles in both 2014 and 2015.
Prior to serving as Associate Head Coach at BGSU, Marchand served as an assistant gymnastics coach for the University of New Hampshire. In her two seasons with the Wildcats, Marchand led the 2018 and 2019 squads to NCAA regionals, in addition to coaching the 2019 team to the EAGL championship. These efforts earned Marchand recognition as the NCAA Northeast Regional Co-Assistant Coach of the Year.
In addition to coaching gymnastics, Marchand brings a wealth of knowledge of the student-athlete experience to GW. In her career, she has served as a kinesiology instructor, in addition to working in both student-athlete support services and sports performance units at the University level.
As a four-year member of the Falcon gymnastics team, Marchand holds both a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a master's degree in business administration from BGSU, in addition to a master's degree from Ball State University in exercise science.
